A few weeks ago I put the opportunity to travel to Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico to experience the Ranch’s phenomenal environment, food, fitness, walking, spa, classes and so much more!

It came at the same time once i was feeling just a little desperate for sunlight, and turned out to be a phenomenal encounter…

In regards to the ranch

Before we get into all of the delicious details, Let me give out a bit about Rancho La Puerta’s history. The family-owned and controlled ranch was founded in 1940 by Edmond and Deborah Szekely. While I didn’t reach meet Deborah personally, I’ve heard incredible things about her soul and zest forever! Deborah is now 93 yrs . old, still lectures in the ranch weekly and functions hard to transform and inspire healthy lifestyles. Guests stay typically 4 or 7 days and result from all over the world. This isn’t a weight loss resort, but rather a place to experience general health and health and fitness. You can make your own schedule for your day, and do as you please, although I would say that most guests end up working out at least 1x each day. Each day is different though, and you may make it whatever you like.

While much unique of my typical Mexico vacations of drinking tequila and shoving chips in my mouth, this was still unbelievably beautiful and FUN. Our times contains TRX, yoga exercises, and circuit classes, hands-on cooking presentations and classes, an organic farm experience, 6am sunrise hikes, and mainly vegetarian-focused food. I LOVED IT.

Now I don’t know on the subject of you, but personally I’ve trouble sitting on the beach all day long simply lounging around. I can do it for one hour or so, but after that I wish to become doing something energetic with my own body or brain. My ideal vacation involves having brand-new experiences, staying active and eating GOOD food. The ranch offered exactly that.

Did I miss having potato chips and guac? Sure! However, I loved just how my mind, body and spirit felt on the ranch. I was inspired, well-rested, creative, relaxed yet still energetic. Would I really do it once again? YES. In fact, I’d love to provide my Mother and Grandma for the girl’s trip! We pointed out that there were plenty of multi-generational families coming together.

The rooms & property:

The property is over 3,000 acres, which means you know you’ll get your steps in for your day. Everything is usually surrounded by way of a vast selection of gorgeous plants, herbs, bouquets and trees. It’s basically like stepping onto an oasis in the middle of the desert.

Our rooms were large with firm, comfortable mattresses. Our villa acquired a fireplace, veranda, and even just a little kitchen. One thing to notice: There’s no TV or internet in the rooms, which means you really do need to be in a position to unplug. Different lounges around the house offer internet in the event that you really need to check-in.

The food!

All meals are served within the dining hall, but breakfast was always undoubtedly my favorite. I loved the scrambled eggs with salsa, coffee beans, cilantro & onions. They also serve corn tortillas, cinnamon oatmeal, the best muesli EVER, whole grain bread, fresh homemade jam, warm water with ginger & lemon, tropical fruits and so very much more.

Another perk: There are always gluten free or vegan options for those who require it. It was always fun to find out what people would create with their breakfasts. 1 day I produced breakfast time tacos and the next morning I had fashioned my beloved peanut butter toast with banana.

Lunch is the same scenario. Lots of vegetables, protein & clean flavors. Plus they always have chia, nutritional yeast, flax seed products and several spices and herbal products out. It inspired me to put more spices and herbal products on my salads and veggies.

The organic farm:

One evening we could actually head to La Cocina Que Canta , the ranch’s organic farm to choose vegetables and herbs for our cooking course meal. The natural herbs were a number of the freshest; we picked them straight from the garden and sampled as we went. I learned you could actually consume arugula blossoms (and they are DELICIOUS). It had been obvious the Ranch and their gardeners execute a tremendous job at taking care of their land and soil to be able to preserve such flavorful and more fresh vegetables.

This was a genuine highlight of the trip for me as you of my dreams is to have my own organic garden. (In fact if you noticed via Snapchat, Tony recently has started our very own indoor organic garden inside our sunroom!)

Cooking classes:

The Ranch offers wonderful hands-on cooking classes for guests throughout the week and luckily I could attend two of these! Each night the foodstuffs we created had been diverse, creative and FLAVORFUL! These were served family style, so we each proved helpful in teams on the recipe. The formulas themselves mostly on vegetables, legumes and seafood. Triple check!

The first night on the cooking school, Liz and I cooked the most delicious chipotle corn chowder with poblanos, fresh corn, potatoes and a number of spices. I’m certainly wishing to recreate it for you personally guys just in time for nice corn season. Stay tuned!

I will mention that We left the cooking food class feeling inspired with a few new cooking techniques. Including how to create a actually rich tasting vegetable broth. YAS compared to that.

Fitness classes & hikes:

Of course you know I hit up those fitness classes and hiking (my favorite workout). The first morning hours we went on the Professor’s hike, a 3.5 mile loop in to the mountain behind the ranch. If you check out the ranch, definitely take the time to perform the hikes. They are just the right amount of complicated and place you in a good morning hours mood.

Another hike offered may be the organic breakfast time hike, where you happen to be the cooking school and enjoy a lovely organic breakfast time.

Pools & Juice Club:

There are many pools round the ranch that are both quiet and relaxing. There is also an incredible organic juice club for when you’re looking for an afternoon pick and choose me up. Try the beet juice!

Overall, I loved the ranch and highly recommend it. The masses tends to be a little old and female-based, however there were plenty of couples and family members. I’m looking forward to heading back one day!
